The Steelers are trying out potential defensive line depth today. On July 31, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported the team will be hosting defensive tackle Cameron Young for a workout.
Young was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. The 6’3, 304-pound defender recorded a 6.33 RAS coming out of college.
Cameron Young is a DT prospect in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 6.33 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 595 out of 1618 DT from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/8lxIIVwXaj

During his final season at Mississippi State, he logged 38 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.
Young has appeared in 17 games at the NFL level, starting one. He has 18 career combined tackles with one tackle for loss.
The Seahawks waived Young at the end of the 2024 season, and he spent part of 2025 with the Green Bay Packers before being released on July 18. Now a free agent, he’s recently worked out for the Houston Texans as well as his visit with the Steelers.
Young’s workout comes at an interesting time for Pittsburgh. The team lost three defensive tackles to knee injuries at Wednesday’s practice: Dean Lowry, Jacob Slade, and Esezi Otomewo. Per PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh, none of the three practiced on Thursday. It’s unclear what their return timeline looks like.
