During the postseason NCAA transfer portal window, the Texas Longhorns turned over a significant portion of the roster under first-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle, ranging from players who saw little or no playing time in 2025 to several starters who struggled at the plate.

With the portal window now closed, here’s a look at where the 16 former Longhorns have landed.

Left-handed pitcher Byrce Navarre — South Carolina

A high-profile flip from Texas A&M, Navarre made just six appearances and posted an 8.10 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 6.2 innings as a freshman

at Texas before entering the portal as the window closed.

Navarre announced his commitment to South Carolina on Friday.

He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Right-handed pitcher Aiden Moffett — Chicago Cubs

After struggling to break into the Texas bullpen rotation, Aiden Moffett signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

Left-handed pitcher Chance Covert — Utah

After redshirting during the 2025 season and entering the transfer portal after the Austin Regional loss to UTSA, Covert announced his commitment to Utah on Sunday.

Covert has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Right-handed pitcher Drew Rerick — Oklahoma

A big late addition to the 2024 recruiting class out of North Dakota, Rerick withdrew from the 2024 MLB Draft, but struggled during his lone season on the Forty Acres. On Thursday, Rerick announced his commitment to the rival Sooners.

So Rerick will now face off against Texas in the Red River Rivalry as head coach Skip Johnson tries to help the big right-hander turn his considerable potential into production.

Outfielder Will Gasparino — UCLA

After spending a little more than two weeks in the portal, Gasparino made an impact commitment to the Bruins, returning home to the Los Angeles area as one of the top remaining players available.

Gasparino struggled to hit for average during his two seasons at Texas, but he’s a superlative center fielder, has tremendous natural power, and cut down his strikeout rate from his freshman to his sophomore seasons, leaving untapped upside still remaining as he eyes the 2026 MLB Draft.

Outfielder Donovan Jordan — Missouri

The Humble Summer Creek product is remaining in the SEC after commitment to Missouri on July 3.

A former top-40 prospect in the state of Texas in the 2024 recruiting class out of Humble Summer Creek, Jordan did not appear in a game for the Longhorns during his season on the Forty Acres.

Outfielder Matt Scott — Oregon

The former top-200 prospect, Scott only appeared in five games as a freshman for Texas before becoming the first player to enter the portal after the Austin Regional loss to UTSA.

Scott announced his commitment to Oregon on June 24.

The 6’4, 210-pounder has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Third baseman/outfielder Sam Richardson — Jacksonville State

Ranked as a top-40 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class by Perfect Game out of Olive Branch (Miss.), Richardson did not appear in a game for Texas in 2025 before entering the portal on June 3.

Richardson committed to Jacksonville State on June 16 with four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Left-handed pitcher Ace Whitehead — USC

After serving in a two-way role for Texas out of Lampasas, Whitehead emerged as a surprisingly effective weekend starter out of necessity in 2024 before deciding to redshirt in 2025 after undergoing surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Whitehead entered the portal on June 3 and announced his commitment to USC on June 19.

The 5’11, 195-pounder has one season of eligibility remaining.

Outfielder Tommy Farmer — UC Irvine

The speedster proved to be an elite outfielder at Texas, but only hit .244 in 197 at bats for the Longhorns over two seasons before entering the portal on June 5. On June 20, Farmer returned to his home state of California by committing to UC Irvine.

Farmer has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Infielder Carson Luna — Michigan

The nation’s No. 35 shortstop in the 2024 recruiting class out of Houston St. John’s, Luna did not appear in a game for the Longhorns in 2025 before entering the portal on June 5. Luna committed to the Wolverines on June 24.

The 6’1, 180-pounder has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Catcher Oliver Service — Marshall

A Detroit (Mich.) University Liggett product, Service signed with Texas as a member of the 2023 recruiting class ranked as the No. 361 prospect and the No. 36 catcher, according to Perfect Game.

Over two seasons with the Longhorns, Service appeared in eight games, receiving a start against UT Arlington this season when starter Rylan Galvan was dealing with a minor injury. Service batted 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI, and two runs scored last season before going hitless in his three at bats sin 2025, striking out twice.

After entering the portal on June 5, Service announced his commitment to the Thundering Herd on July 3.

Service has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

First baseman Jaquae Stewart — Texas State

A Houston Christian signee out of Sinton who had a productive season at Northwest Florida State before committing to Texas, Stewart struggled at the plate for the Longhorns, batting .149 in 23 games in 2025.

After entering the portal on June 6, Stewart committed to Texas State on June 20.

Stewart has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Catcher/infielder Cole Chamberlain — Coastal Carolina

Chamberlain hit .135 for Texas with 10 starts among his 22 appearances, but entered the portal on June 25 following the commitment of Notre Dame transfer catcher Carson Tinney to Texas.

The California product only needed a week to find his next destination, pledging to Coastal Carolina on July 1.

Chamberlain has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
