Breaking: Bayern Munich’s João Palhinha on ‘verge’ of move to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha is on the ‘verge’ of joining Tottenham Hotspur on a loan assignment:

Only final details remain between Palhinha and Tottenham. An agreement between FC Bayern and Tottenham is almost complete.

Contract with Bayern remains valid until 2028.

  • Who absorbs Palhinha’s salary this season? Likely Spurs.
  • What loan fee will there be? Likely something nominal.
  • Will there be an obligation to buy? This seems possible, but not a certainty.

In the end, this deal could end up being a way for Bayern Munich to get Palhinha’s salary off its books for this season and allow him to audition for Tottenham in hopes of landing a full-time gig in London à la Mathys Tel.
