One of the top point guards in the 2026 class will be in Lexington this weekend.

Deron Rippey Jr, the 17th-ranked prospect in the class according to Rivals, will visit the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend as he celebrates his 18th birthday.

The 6-foot-2 point guard prospect has several schools pursuing him. Rippey is expected to take visits to Duke, NC State, North Carolina, Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, Tennessee, and others with a decision expected in January.

He’s recently had some positive things to say

about Kentucky.

“I love how (Kentucky) continued on the winning program after Coach (John) Calipari left,” Rippey recently told KSR. “Mark Pope, I think he’s a very high-level coach, he’s a guard’s coach, he’s just an overall savant of the game of basketball. Using that terminology, I think I’m a high-level point guard that can think the game fast, so being able to play for a coach like that will be important for me.”

Rippey is known as a two-way guard with great athleticism. His jump shot has been one of the biggest areas needing improvement, but he’s shown significant strides in his shooting this summer.

There’s a lot to like about Rippey’s game, and he would be a big piece in the 2026 class if the Wildcats can seal the deal in this recruitment.
