WHAT'S THE STORY?

In a move that’s sure to fuel speculation about a possible comeback by Seth Rollins, WWE has uploaded a new video to its YouTube channel titled “Thrilling SummerSlam Returns.”

The video opens with a scene from last year’s SummerSlam, showing Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa lying in the ring. As the tension builds, a thunderous drumbeat hits, signaling the return of Roman Reigns. But before Reigns appears, the screen fades to black, offering only a teaser of what’s to come.

with Reigns’ comeback in 2020. It’s here that he takes his first steps toward becoming the Tribal Chief. Moments after “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt regained the Universal Championship, Reigns stormed the ring and speared Wyatt.

Sporting a new “Wreck Everyone & Leave” T-shirt, Reigns then turned his attention to Braun Strowman. After wiping him out with a spear, he attacked Strowman with a chair. Another spear to Wyatt followed, as Reigns stood tall, trash-talking both men.

“Neither of you are here without me,” Reigns barked at both men before picking up the Universal Title. “I’m the man. I’m the guy.”

Other memorable returns include Becky Lynch at SummerSlam 2021, stepping in for Carmella — who herself was filling in for Sasha Banks — to challenge Bianca Belair. After accepting Lynch’s challenge, Belair was defeated in less than 30 seconds as “The Man” claimed the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Belair would have her revenge, defeating Lynch at SummerSlam the following year, this time to retain the Raw Women’s Title. But her celebration was cut short as Bayley made her return. However, Bayley wasn’t alone. With her were Dakota Kai, who had been released by WWE that April, and Iyo Sky, who was making her main roster debut.

One notable inclusion is Brock Lesnar, whose 2021 return is celebrated despite the controversy surrounding it.

Recently, former UFC champion Daniel Cormier claimed Lesnar is on a “banned list” with WWE parent company TKO. This comes amid an ongoing lawsuit by former WWE employee Janel Grant, who accuses Vince McMahon of abuse and trafficking. The suit names Lesnar as a figure in explicit contract negotiations arranged by McMahon — allegations Lesnar has not publicly responded to.

While Lesnar’s inclusion introduces a complex layer to the video, the other returns featured add intrigue as to who might be next. Rollins could indeed be next, ready to make history by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at this year’s SummerSlam.
