Meet the Mets

The Mets came from behind again yesterday, beating the Angels 3-2. Frankie MOntas had a solid start, going 5.2 innings, giving up eight hits but only two runs while collecting six strikeouts. The trio of relievers who came in after him, Rico Garcia, Reed Garrett, and Ryne Stanek, finished the game without allowing another run, with Stanek recording the save. The Mets offense was led by the youth movement in a big fifth inning. Francisco Alvarez hit a two-run home run after a Brett Baty double. And

after Ronny Mauricio singled and stole second, Brandon Nimmo was able to drive him in as what would become the game winning run.

The Nationals easily beat the Reds 6-1, with CJ Abrams, Josh Bell, Jacob Young and Riley Adams all driving in runs.

The Braves were trounced by the Giants in a 9-0 loss, with Davis Daniel giving up five runs in five innings and Wander Suero giving up the other four in just two innings of work.

The Phillies beat the Red Sox once again in a 4-1 victory, with Cristopher Sánchez the hero of the game with a one-run complete game.

The Phillies also officially signed their first round draft pick, pitcher Gage Wood.

ESPN has put up their trade deadline buzz file, which will be updated as the deadline gets closer.

Rich Hill made his official return to the majors Tuesday night, becoming the oldest player in the major leagues and the oldest player in Royals history.

The Rockies gave their first round pick Ethan Holliday a $9 million bonus, which is the largest for a high school player in draft history.
