Everyone thought Dom Mysterio was faking his recent injury

WHAT'S THE STORY?

WWE announced that an injury would keep Intercontinental champion Dom Mysterio from miss a defense against AJ Styles that was planned June’s Night of Champions premium live event. But he remained on television… and he’s a chickenshit heel (WWE may not officially use his nickname any more, but he’ll always be Dirty to us). So there were plenty of doubts about the legitimacy of Mysterio’s injury — even after reports confirmed it.

Seems fans may not have been the only skeptics. When he was on The 520

Podcast recently, Dom revealed his injury was legit — and that “everyone” thought he was working:

“I dislocated my two lower ribs and they were digging into my cartilage. So that was why I was actually hurt. Everyone thought I was faking it, but I was actually hurt.”

Now, Seth Rollins’ “Ruse of the Century” hadn’t even started yet. So we can’t blame that for anyone’s doubts about Mysterio’s recent injury.

Just thought it was interesting coming at roughly the same time rumors the locker room wasn’t crazy about being worked on Rollins’ injury — and when WWE seems more & more willing to kayfabe anyone in pursuit of moments and content.
