The Guardians won another series yesterday, and now will try to do the same against the Orioles starting tonight.
Nicole offered another excellent recap of the game, with highlights. Angel Martinez continuing an excellent July and David Fry breaking out of his six week funk were the big stories offensively, accompanying a dominant performance from Gavin Williams. May Williams be finally turning a corner toward consistency? Time will tell.
Chase DeLauter will see a hand specialist today. Hopefully,
the hand specialist says “You’re fine, kid. Just give it another week.” Juan Brito’s hamstring strain was severe, so who knows if we see him this season again, or not. Travis Bazzana played yesterday, though! ...Went 1 for 5 with a single and two strikeouts, but he played!
We are now 10 days from the trade deadline. We will see if the Guardians are able to make a strong enough case for the front office to potentially add to the team. I feel the most likely scenario is that they will mostly hold, maybe trade a reliever to a desperate contender. I’m fine with anything from a larger sell-off to buying on a bat to basically holding.
AROUND MLB:
The Brewers swept the Dodgers, tying the Cubs atop the NL Central. I am happy for them.
