Dustin Rhodes first TNT title defense is against another champion

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Ricky Havlik for All Elite Wrestling

Dustin Rhodes had a feel-good moment winning the TNT Championship at All In in his home state of Texas. Now, the work begins to keep that title. The Natural’s first defense will be against another champion.

AEW announced Dustin versus Lee Moriarty for the TNT Championship on Collision (Saturday, July 26, 2025). Moriarty is the reigning ROH Pure champion.

Moriarty recently made history with the longest reign as Pure champion. After defeating Blue Panther at Supercard of Honor, Moriarty passed Nigel McGuinness at 350 days in the ROH record books.

Moriarty has found tremendous success under Pure rules. The standard ruleset paints a completely different picture. Moriarty has never won a singles match on Dynamite or Collision. Dustin is no spring chicken though. Perhaps Moriarty can pull the upset using his superior submission skills to stretch the 56-year-old’s stiff limbs.
