Promising prospect Austin Bashi delivered a dominant performance earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 2, 2025) at UFC Vegas 108 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping short-notice replacement John Yannis with a first-round submission (rear-naked choke).

killer, Christian Rodriguez. This was an important spot for the young featherweight if we wanted to maintain the hype he carried coming over from the Contender Series. Bashi was originally scheduled to face Francis Marshall, but an injury to Marshall allowed Yannis to fill in on a few days notice.

Heading into Saturday night, Bashi was a massive betting favorite and it showed right away. The talented prospect wasted no time exploding for a takedown and quickly turned the fight into a grappling match. Yannis was actually able to defend on the mat, but on his way up Bashi sneakily locked up the choke and forced Yannis to tap. It was pretty impressive.
