Most attention around Major League Baseball on this afternoon is focused on the Trade Deadline, which will pass at 6pm ET. There’s even a light schedule, with only three games on the slate.
One of them, however, a Yankees/Rays matinee — one with an ominous forecast. As if determined to move things along and ensure that they could get a win in, the Yankees zoomed out to a 7-0 lead on Ryan Pepiot, with big homers from Giancarlo Stanton and Ben Rice. Marcus Stroman fell apart in the fourth and made it interesting
again at 7-4, but he at least escaped the inning.
Just after the ballgame passed the “official” mark with the Rays going scoreless in the top of the fifth, the weather really began to move in. Three batters into the bottom of the fifth, the grounds crew pulled out the tarp with fans running for cover.
Today's game is officially under a rain delay. We will update you with information as it becomes available.

Will this game actually resume? Guess we’ll find out together. The best-case for the Yankees would be for it to just be nixed right now with the W in the books.
MLB rules say umps can't suspend play until 30 minutes after it's stopped.

Bet on this game getting #banged at 31 minutes.
Actually, don't bet. You see how that's working out in Cleveland.
