Former Rutgers star, defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton, who was drafted No. 224 overall by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2025 draft, will miss most if not all of his rookie season due to an injury he sustained in practice. Hamilton was carted off the field during last Wednesday's practice with a cast on his left leg.
He underwent a successful surgery on Thursday to repair what turned out to be a fractured ankle. His turnaround time for recovery will be about four months, which will likely
have him placed in injury reserve for the season.
Hamilton does not have a history of injury during his time at Rutgers. He was one of the most consistent faces on the field as he played in every game he could have for the Scarlet Knights, which amounted to 31 starts in 51 games played.
During his time at Rutgers, Hamilton racked up 110 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His senior season was the best of all as he recorded 44 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks, and 24 quarterback pressures during his last season with the Knights.
