Barcelona look set to lose exciting young winger Jan Virgili this summer, with the forward believed to be keen on a move to Real Mallorca.
Virgili had been tipped to break into the first team this season but it seems that instead he will try his luck elsewhere.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Virgili’s decision has taken the club by surprise but they won’t stand in his way,
Barcelona are said to value Virgili highly but don’t seem too impressed with his attitude. MD says Virgili is moving on as he’s “not
convinced” about playing in the fourth division next season for Barcelona Atletic.
The Catalans feel that playing for Barca Atletic is an important pathway to the first team and that if any players aren’t interested in featuring for the reserves they should move on.
Barca also feel that Hansi Flick has demonstrated his willingness to trust in youth, perhaps another reason why they have been surprised by Virgili’s desire to go.
Mallorca are now expected to pay a small fee for Virgili, while Barcelona are hoping to add a 50% sell-on clause in any potential future transfer.
