The fans have spoken: Pete Carroll all day long.

Recently, The Athletic reported that the Las Vegas Raiders wanted to hire Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen before they turned to Pete Carroll as the hire in January.

Coen was hired as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars a day before Carroll replaced the fired Antonio Pierce.

After that story came out, we asked our community members if they would rather Coen was hired than Carroll.

It was a a blowout. Carroll won in a landslide.

In a poll with more than 500 votes cast, 93 percent of the voters said hiring Carroll was the best outcome, while just a total of 40 voters thought hiring Coen would have been the right outcome.

I totally get this outcome and I expected Carroll to be the easy winner.

Carroll is entering his 28th season as a head coach at either the NFL or college level. He is a proven winner and is a great leader and has the energy level around the team sky high, so it’s clear the fan base is happily moving forward with Carroll.

IMHO - Liam Coen has yet to prove he can be a HC.
IF he can turn the Jags around, it'll show he is more than a promising OC.
But let's face it, Pederson was a pretty strong hire and had consensus #1 pick at QB, yet wasn't able to get them to the PO's after the initial 9-8 first season.
SO what are Coen's chances?
Maybe the Raiders wait a season or two, until the Jags move on and bring Coen in as OC and future HC?

Pete brings professionalism and stability--just what this franchise needed.

Yes, Pete has had an effect already. If things get rough, he does have more legitimacy then someone who's a first-time coach. For those who think Pete does not have a whiz-bang young mind when it comes to offense, I think that's why we brought in Chip Kelly. Hoping Pete gets along okay with Patrick Graham on the defense, which is the specialty of both guys. I was in favor of Ben Graham, but have changed my tune as he is supposedly sort of an introvert, much different than Pete. Don't know about Coen.
