Barcelona and Marc-Andre ter Stegen seem to be in a bit of mess right now thanks to the goalkeeper’s back injury.
Ter Stegen has raised a few eyebrows by putting out a statement to confirm he’s going under the knife and will be out for three months.
It’s unusual for a player to announce such news, rather than the club, but also no surprise given he’s been training alone since the start of pre-season.
Ter Stegen says he will be out for around three months after sugery, while it seems Barcelona have a different
view.
According to RAC1, the Catalan giants estimate that an injury lay-off after such an operation would be around “between 4-5 months instead of the three months stated by the German in his statement.”
Of course if Ter Stegen is sidelined for four or more months then Barcelona would be able to use 80% of his salary to register other players.
The situation with Ter Stegen had been delicate already this summer, following the arrival of Joan Garcia, but now seems to have gone up a notch with this latest development.
