Since I was on my way to Vegas, I figured testing the waters for actual interest in the event beyond press was timely stuff for a summer poll. Also, in an article posted earlier in the day
, I had already offered that there wasn’t much new to be learned at these events, rather they are mostly a chance for coaches players pump some optimism into our veins before the real thing begins./cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/26067643/IMG_0951.jpeg)
Not surprisingly, the winner was “no real interest at all” coming in at 55%. I would suspect this is the case for two
reasons - 1) the aforementioned lack of actual fresh news and 2) who actually enjoys watching people sit around and talk for what amounted to around 15 hours?
Interest in the event totaled a combined 45% with 26% confessing some interest and 19% going for the full monty. It’s the Nebraska Cornhuskers, so there wasn’t going to be a shutout there.
A couple of thoughts:
- Would it have changed the voting at all if a nugget such as “Matt Rhule will comment on Scott Frost’s Big 12 Media Days remarks during his individual podium interview,” had been released on Monday prior to the event?
- Let’s have a another poll to garner interest in a potential new summer B1G event:
