Elayna Black (fka WWE’s Cora Jade) is taking a break from wrestling

One of the more surprising names included in WWE’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts a few months back was Cora Jade, who when healthy had frequently been around the top the NXT Women’s division. Returning to her pre-WWE name Elayna Black, the 24-year-old’s schedule quickly filled up with bookings and interviews.

In those interviews, Black (whose real name is Brianna Coda) spoke about being body shamed in NXT, and about dealing with hate online from so-called wrestling fans. Those both may have been a factor

in the decision Black announced today (July 21) — that she’s cancelling her bookings and stepping away from the business due to its impact on her mental health:

I originally had a 10 minute long video explaining where my head’s at, and maybe eventually l’ll post it but seems unnecessary for now. I’ll keep it short but I am going to be taking a break from wrestling for the foreseeable future. It’s no longer good for my mental health and I’ll never know if that love for it I once had will return if I don’t step away. I’m gonna take the rest of the year to take care of me and go from there. I apologize to the fans and promoters who were looking forward to/booked my upcoming appearances. I hope you can understand. To my supporters, thank you
