Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 10, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (Phillies) 4

The Tides racked up a whopping 15 hits on Sunday, Emmanuel Rivera leading the way with three, including a home run. Every Tides hitter in the lineup had a hit or more. That included a pair of doubles for the rehabbing Ryan Mountcastle, and two hits and a walk for Dylan Beavers. Vimael Machín doubled twice, walked, and had 3 RBIs. Terrin Vavra singled and walked three times.

before that, they were really good! Credit goes to Thaddeus Ward, who tossed five scoreless on four hits and three walks. His numbers on the year aren’t wow (7-6, 5.90 ERA) but this is an encouraging result. After him, a mostly unimpressive turn by the bullpen. Cionel Pérez allowed a run in his inning of work, Matt Bowman threw a scoreless inning with a hit allowed, and José Espada and Vinny Nittoli allowed a home run each.

Double-A: Altoona Curve (Pirates) 6, Chesapeake Baysox 1

Rain delayed this one, but still they played on. Altoona scored in two three-run bunches, one a three-run homer against starter Levi Wells (2.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K). One run was unearned as one Curve batter reached on interference by catcher Cole Urman. After the delay, Trace Bright allowed three more, all earned.

The Baysox didn’t even get on the board until the eighth inning, when Reed Trimble doubled home Jalen Vasquez. Vasquez and Luis Valdez had two hits each, Urman singled and walked, and Douglas Hodo doubled and walked.

Box score

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds, Winston-Salem Dash (White Sox) - Canceled (lightning)

Lightning in the vicinity resulted in this game getting canceled, forcing a postponement of Alex Pham’s rehab start.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds, Lynchburg Hillcats (Guardians) - PPD/0

Boo, this one, too, but the Shorebirds will make up this game on August 3.
