In Week 2 of the regular season

The Buffalo Bills will travel to Metlife Stadium in Week 2 for their first AFC East matchup of the season, taking on the once-again remade New York Jets. Buffalo has ridden a little hot streak against the Jets, winning the last three games. The Jets’ last win was the unforgettable walk-off punt return touchdown in overtime to open the 2023 season. That same game began the downward spiral that was Aaron Rodgers’ tenure in the Meadowlands, here thanks to a season-ending

Achilles injury.

For the Jets though, after a disappointing 2024 that saw Rodgers return for a full season, they’re looking to establish a new winning culture across the river from Manhattan. That starts with new head coach Aaron Glenn who comes to town after being the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions the two previous seasons. Buffalo twice faced interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, whose first game at the helm following Robert Saleh’s dismissal came against the Bills in Week 6.

With Rodgers and the team’s head-coaching concerns seemingly in the rearview mirror the Jets turn things over to quarterback Justin Fields who’s once again looking to restart his career after an up and down season playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite Josh Allen’s overall success in the NFL, one can never be certain about the type of game he plays against Gang Green. In 13 games against the Jets, Allen has 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

During that overtime loss in 2023, the Bills seemed to be in control the first part of the game but then Allen had three interceptions before rallying the team to fight for a win. The good news is that last year Allen played excellent against the Jets, boasting passer ratings of 127.9 (Week 6) and 104.2 (Week 16) in both meetings.

The matchup that everyone will be looking forward to is between wide receiver Garrett Wilson and cornerback Christian Benford. These are two young players at their top of their games and they should be lined up across from each other quite a bit.

Wilson just signed an extension that pays him over $30 million a year while Benford was rewarded this offseason with a four-year $76 million extension. Wilson tends to be a handful when he faces the Bills with 15 catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns in their two games last season.

Are the Jets a more serious threat to the Bills in 2025, finally out of their own ?
