It’s time for fall camp. College football begins around the country this week. For the Virginia Tech Hokies, that’s on Thursday. After practice, head coach Brent Pry will meet with the media to discuss fall camp.
Last week, every ACC team sent its head coach and a few selected players to attend ACC Kickoff festivities in Charlotte. At the ACC Kickoff, media members gathered to vote on the preseason All-ACC team and the predicted order of finish for 2025. Let’s say they aren’t too high on the Hokies.
Virginia Tech is projected to finish 11th in the ACC.

No real surprises here. Any of those teams ranked in the 6-12 range could be flipped. The problem for Virginia Tech is that there are so many unknowns. A new offensive coordinator (Phillip Montgomery), a new defensive coordinator (Sam Siefkes) and a roster overhaul, featuring 30 transfers. Last year, VT faced high expectations, but that will not be the case in 2025. That’s probably a good thing.
A key hire that Virginia Tech made that flies under the radar is offensive line coach Matt Moore. Moore brought in multiple transfers, most following him from West Virginia, and there’s genuine excitement about that unit. Quarterback Kyron Drones dealt with multiple health issues all of last season, but is healthy heading into fall camp.
