It’s the end of July which means we are in the heart of Football media season. Oregon was at Big Ten Media days last week and yesterday had their own team specific media day in Eugene before Fall camp gets underway on Wednesday. If you would like to hear all of the coaches and players try to give the most meaningful answers they can without giving away state secrets I highly recommend it, especially if you need some background noise at work that you don’t need to pay to close attention too.
With Football
practice nearly hear and the first game of the year almost a month away it got me thinking.
How often does a story in fall camp actually end up becoming relevant for the upcoming season? Coaches and players will always talk up the players on the team throughout fall camp to get through media sessions in August but how often do those names actually make an impact on Saturday’s in September.
Me personally I remember there being palpable buzz about a massive true freshmen RB in the camp of 2014. Low and behold that was a fall camp storyline that wasn’t smoke.
I also remember some chatter about a local 3* true freshmen QB who wasn’t the initial starter that season but ended up being the lone bright spot in a blackhole of a season.
What fall camp buzz and chatter do you remember that actually lead to something during the season? We here at Addicted to Quack would love to hear your stories of Fall Camp from the past.
