With results from other games on Wednesday, the Portland Trail Blazers have been eliminated from the Summer League championship. The Blazers could finish the preliminary round of four games with a record of 3-1 if they defeat the Houston Rockets today at 5:00pm PDT, but that record will not put them in one of the top four positions need to advance.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings, and Minnesota Timberwolves already have records of 4-0. The San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets are
currently 3-0, but they play each other today, ensuring that one team or the other will also finish the preliminary round at 4-0. The Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks could also finish at 4-0, raising the possibility that a team that finishes the preliminary round with a perfect record might be eliminated from the championship.
If more than four teams tie at 4-0, point differential will be the first tiebreaker, followed by total points scored and then a coin flip.
The Blazers will still play one additional Summer League game after today’s contest against Houston. The day, time, and opponent of that fifth game will be determined after the preliminary round is completed.
