Royals 9 Jays 3
That wasn’t much fun.
Vlad homered in the first inning (428 feet, 113.9 mph), and that was it for good moments.
Well, I guess we got to see Louis Varland (he was impressive). Tommy Nance had a scoreless inning, too.
The Royals scored two in the second and three in the third. Then got four more in the ninth (a solo homer and a two-run homer, plus a bunch of singles) (it wasn’t Mason Fluharty day either).
Michael Wacha had an easy time of it, giving up just three hits, no walks and five
strikeouts, over eight innings. He really could have had a complete game if there was such a thing anymore.
John Loperfido doubled to lead off the ninth, and Addison Barger homered,
No Jays of the Day. Vlad had the high mark at .081.
Other Award: Gausman (-.301).
Tomorrow we try again. Max Scherzer (1-1, 4.89) vs. Noah Camerson (5-4, 2.44) a lefty. He is a 3:00 Eastern start.
