Former Bayern Munich technical director Michael Reschke recently spoke about how the transfer process went when he was at the club — and how he interacted with Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“During my time at the club, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge were the main contacts for transfer ideas. They didn’t know the international player market inside out, and it wasn’t their job,” Reschke told Abendzeitung journalist Kilian Kreitmair (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “If you approached them
both, presented a clear sporting conviction and a sensible financial concept, and backed it up with compelling videos and reports, you always received backing from them.
“Of course, there were questions and discussions, but neither of them was ever an obstacle. I remember well discussions about the transfers of (Joshua) Kimmich and (Kingsley) Coman, whom neither of them was obviously familiar with. There were also big question marks. But when Marco Neppe and I presented a clear concept, we could definitely convince them.”
For as much as it has been reported that Rummenigge and Hoeneß have a tendency to meddle, Reschke seems to disprove that. What do you think?
With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Bayern Munich has reportedly also exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. It might also just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid and sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey. Finally, we have a note Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO and his recent slam on Bayern.
