Ishé Samuels-Smith’s transfer to RC Strasbourg was made officially official this morning, with the 19-year-old defender joining our BlueCo sister club on a five-year deal. The monetary value attached to the deal is reportedly around £6.5m, which is technically a small profit on the £4m or so we paid to Everton a couple years ago for the teenager’s signature.
Of course, a transfer within the BlueCo organization is a bit less permanent than most other transfers with clubs outside of our multi-club-verse,
but for now, Samuels-Smith will be with Strasbourg, where he’ll be looking to keep his development trajectory going in a positive direction. Incidentally, RCSA recently appointed Chelsea U21 head coach Filipe Coelho as the new assistant manager to Liam Rosenior, so Ishé will have a key familiar face to work with, even, in France.
Samuels-Smith is the fourth Chelsea player to join Strasbourg this summer, after the loans of Mamadou Sarr and Mike Penders and the transfer of Mathis Amougou. Kendry Páez is expected to join soon as well, also on loan.
Good luck, ISS!
