Editor’s note: It didn’t take two people working together to cover this particular piece of news, but two people did inadvertently cover it separately — and with the same joke in mind, proving that great minds think alike... and Sean & G0mez occasionally do, too. Anyway, we’ve stitched their efforts together like a blog version of Frankenstein’s monster. Enjoy.
Seeing the words “WWE” and “Fandango” in the title of a press release immediately made this song pop into our heads...
... but before you start
practicing your moves in anticipation of an appearance by the man who beat Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29, we’ll tell you that the press release is not about Johnny Dango Curtis (and that he just returned to NXT in February as part of the TNA partnership).
It is about WWE and Fandango partnering to screen the first-ever two-night SummerSlam live at select Regal Cinemas across the U.S. on Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3.
WWE and @Fandango announced today that the first-ever two-night #SummerSlam taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will screen live in select Regal Cinemas across the U.S. on Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3! Tickets for this cinematic event are on sale now at Fandango.… pic.twitter.com/UBovC5Ua6d

The event marks the launch of a multi-event partnership between WWE and the online ticketing platform. According to WWE’s news release, Regal will serve as the anchor theater partner for SummerSlam 2025. More exhibitors are expected to join for future WWE Premium Live Events (PLEs).
“WWE is one of the most electrifying global entertainment brands, and its events deserve to be experienced on the big screen,” said Will McIntosh, President, Fandango, in a statement given to WWE. “We’re thrilled to work with WWE and Regal Cinemas to bring the action-packed SummerSlam 2025 cinema presentation to fans nationwide.”
Tickets for the two-night SummerSlam screening event are on sale now at Fandango.
WWE’s alliance with Fandango is nothing new for pro wrestling. In years past, WWE brought events to the multiplex via Fathom Events. AEW has frequently made their PPV events available at movie theaters, as well. Additionally, MMA promotions like the UFC and Bellator have also made their signature events available in cinemas.
Certainly, pro wrestling and the movie theater experience provide a fun atmosphere for fans to come together and celebrate as a community. Additionally, it’s a great way to beat the heat and enjoy a snack or two in the summer.
Ironically, WWE’s partnership with Fandango comes as SummerSlam emanates from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. That building hosted the aforementioned WrestleMania 29 in 2013...
Will you be going to your local Regal Cinemas to watch SummerSlam, Cagesiders? If so, will you try to get a Fandango chant going? Anyone else just bummed this doesn’t get us closer to a Fashion Police reboot?
