It’s Friday which means the survey results for the week are out and this week I’m focusing on the two biggest Big Ten champions in the upcoming sports year. First, there is of course the football championship. There’s little to no chance that Purdue makes it to this title game let alone wins it so I didn’t even include them in the choices, although you could’ve chosen other I suppose if you were really that confident. Instead, I wanted to see which of the numerous top contenders you believe will
bring home the crown.

We’ve got a runaway favorite in Ohio State with 60% of the vote. Penn State was second with 24% while newcomer Oregon ranks 3rd with 7% of the vote. Michigan gets 5% while Other comes in last with 4%. I would be curious if you voted other to let me know who you mean in the comments. Surely, it can’t be IU can it?
Next, the one I think more folks here care about. Who will win the men’s basketball Big Ten championship. Now, Purdue is going to be a heavy favorite for a lot of people going into this one and so seeing as how this is a Purdue site I took them out of the running because otherwise I don’t think we would get a true representative sample. So instead, I wanted to know who would be the biggest challenger for Purdue’s chances of winning the conference.

Michigan was my choice, and the choice of the plurality with 46% of the vote. Dusty May has quickly turned Michigan back into a contender and one to be reckoned with. They got good transfer portal news in the offseason which should help them. Following them is perrenial Big Ten contender Michigan State because you can never count out Tom Izzo. Illinois lands in third with 13% of the vote followed by other (again let me know who you voted for) with UCLA and Wisconsin bringing up the rear.
So there you have it. Agree or disagree with these? Let me know in the comments.
