Dro Fernandez enjoyed a debut to remember for Barcelona on Sunday, scoring in a 3-1 friendly win over Vissel Kobe in Japan.
The 17-year-old is yet another La Masia graduate being tipped for the big time but admits he was pretty nervous before taking to the pitch.
“Hansi told me when I came on to enjoy, to do what I knew how to do with the ball and to press without the ball. Everyone congratulated me, happy for me. I didn’t believe it when I scored the goal, I didn’t even know how to celebrate,” he told reporters.
AD“Incredible, really. I went in nervously, I got the first one and it went in. Very happy. It was the first time with the best club in the world and I was very nervous. But I spoke with Hansi, with my teammates and they calmed me down.”
Dro also spoke about how Pedri is his idol and told fans what they can expect from him.
“I think what Pedri does on the pitch is spectacular and I admire him a lot. The dressing room has received me spectacularly,” he added.
“I try to enjoy, do what I know and that’s it. Leave everything on the field. I’m a technical footballer, who likes to dribble and be happy on the pitch. Patience above all, go very slowly, it has just begun.”
It certainly was an eye-catching debut from Dro, another player to keep an eye on at Barcelona in the coming weeks and months.
