Paul Wanner has been one of Bayern Munich’s most promising prospects since his first-team debut against Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2022. However, since then, chances have been limited for the 19-year-old midfielder. Wanner has subsequently been linked with a loan move away from the club with VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt and PSV Eindhoven all rumoured to be interested. Despite the speculation, the young German prospect may still have hope for a first team role.

and Jamal Musiala’s long-term injury may be just the blessing Wanner is looking for.

Board Member for Sport Max Eberl highlighted Musiala’s injury as the reason Wanner will get his chance at Bayern despite ‘many interested’ clubs.

“Paul’s situation is now different after Jamal’s injury,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “There are many interested clubs. Now he has his chance here and he has to take it. As of now, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be with us beyond September 1”.

Fans betting on Wanner finally getting his chance with Bayern may however have to hold their horses. BILD believes a loan move is still very much a possibility but will be heavily dependent on three key factors, according to a report from Sport Bild. Via @iMiaSanMia:

Despite Max Eberl’s statements yesterday, a Paul Wanner move this summer is still not completely off the table. It will depend on how pre-season goes for him, what his chances of playing time under Vincent Kompany really look like, potential further new signings and what loan offers Wanner will still receive before the end of the window

As of now, it looks like the attacking midfielder’s future is still very much up in the air and will likely remain that way until the end of preseason and the end of the transfer window.
