The UFC will continue its efforts to further break into the Brazilian jiu-jitsu scene, when they host their second grappling event since rebranding their UFC Fight Pass Invitational (UFC FPI) series.

UFC BJJ 2 will happen Thursday, July 31, 2025, and the card be topped by Andrew Tackett’s maiden title defense, and an inaugural light heavyweight title bout.

Below is everything you need to know about the UFC’s upcoming grappling card.

but it should still produces a lot of entertainment.

Headlining the event is Andrew Tackett, who is going to have a quick turnaround since winning the inaugural UFC BJJ welterweight title last month. The 22-year-old has been incredibly dominant on his run to the title, and will have his first defense against Renato Canuto, who has gone 4-0 on UFC FPI events before the rebrand.

Mason Fowler, a popular two time ADCC Trials champ who has gone 6-1 in UFC FPI events, will face David Garmo for the vacant UFC BJJ light heavyweight title.

The 35-year-old Garmo is a talented grappler that recently won no gi Brasileiros, but he will likely be a heavy underdog against his bigger, younger and more accomplished opponent.

Both title bouts have sizable favorites — Fowler especially — but these two bouts should still deliver with entertainment.

Fowler is also coming off a pretty nasty choke + omoplata submission at UFC FPI 11, and will likely look for yet another highlight reel finish on this event. Canuto can also cause Tackett some problems, and combining their always entertaining styles pretty much guarantees fireworks on this event.

There certainly are better title bouts to be made, but these bouts are likely to produce a lot of entertainment, which helps UFC’s goals of drawing fans and showcasing BJJ as a better spectator sport.

Two champions’ siblings try to forge own path at UFC BJJ 2

Mikey Musumeci and Andrew Tackett were two of the three inaugural champions crowned on the first ever UFC BJJ event, and now their siblings will try to forge their own path.

Five-time IBJJF champ Tammi Musumeci will return to the professional grappling scene at UFC BJJ 2, when she faces Leilani Bernales.

William Tackett will also be on the card headlined by his younger brother, where he will look to face a familiar foe. The ADCC West Coast Trials champ will face Kyle Chambers, who has wins over both the Tackett brothers when they were younger.

Outside of those two bouts, also worth watching earlier in the card, is an excellent match up between two IBJJF world champs. Two-time no gi world champ Everton Teixeira will face grappling phenom Jalen Fonacier, who became the first ever Filipino world champion as a teenager.

UFC BJJ 2 will have a free live stream on YouTube

Speaking of UFC’s goals to bring in more eyeballs to their product and the sport in general, UFC BJJ 2 will once again be streamed live and for free on YouTube.

Their first event got 1.5 million views on YouTube, with millions more watching the “UFC BJJ: Road to the Title” reality show during the lead up. UFC BJJ 2 will try to build on those figures, and will once again make their event easily accessible to combat sports fans.

The no gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) event will stream live on YouTube, starting at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The full fight card is below.
