Bayern Munich has developed a notorious reputation for stalling the development of several promising youth players. Save for a select few like Aleksandar Pavlović and Jamal Musiala, most talents that the club signs either rot in the reserves or get shipped out when not given a chance. But why does the club think that Adam Aznou is not better than Raphaël Guerreiro?
Despite contacts with Getafe, Adam Aznou is staying at Bayern for the time being. Vincent Kompany doesn’t see Aznou as any better than
ADRaphaël Guerreiro, for example, hence his limited playing time at the Club World Cup. The people in charge are hoping that Aznou will show more determination, including his training performances, and seize the opportunity given the absences of Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō. The doors to an exit, however, are not closed if the player wants out.

BFW Analysis
The notion that Adam Aznou is on par with Raphaël Guerreiro is just misinformed. Aznou at his current level is of course nowhere near the required level to challenge Alphonso Davies for his position in the first team, but if you want a serviceable backup then Vincent Kompany must give him playing time. Guerreiro is an inadequate backup and an aging player, not enough to become the second choice left-back.
This is a gripe I have with Kompany ever since he took the job as Bayern coach: he never gives opportunities to other players, may it be promising youth players like Tom Bischof or established players like João Palhinha. What does he see in Leon Goretzka that he likes to play every single game with him? Does he really think that the jogging and lack of positional sense is enough to go toe-to-toe with better teams? It’s the reason why the club is eager to ship Kim Min-jae out; he has to do double the work because the midfield is not providing enough protection that he almost always gets caught out of position every time.
Going back, Guerreiro has shown in the Club World Cup that he isn’t good enough. Even against Boca, he was getting skinned alive. If Kompany wants to keep his job then he needs to take risks. You might also think that his [Aznou] attitude won’t stand in the long run, well that’s half true. He has every right to question why he’s not getting any minutes. If he succeeds then that’s vindication for him, if he doesn’t then maybe he just isn’t cut out for the team. Before everything, give him a chance to prove himself.
