Barcelona star Lamine Yamal’s father has hit back at criticism of his son following his 18th birthday party celebrations.
Yamal has been criticised for allegedly hiring people with dwarfism to entertain guests, and an investigation has been requested to see if any disability laws have been broken.
Yamal’s dad, Mounir Nasraoui, says his son has done nothing wrong and added that he would be the first to reprimand the teenager if he had stepped out of line.
“We should all be proud, and the people who speak
ADbadly of my son should take a good look at their backs and that’s it. And that’s it, we’re not saying anything bad, nor has my son done anything wrong,” he told Europa Press.
“Otherwise, I would be the first as a father to tell him, to grab him by the ears and tell Lamine ‘this isn’t done, son,’ but my son hasn’t done anything. He hasn’t done anything.
“If he’s done something wrong, there are police stations to go and report it. But since he didn’t do anything, it’s okay.”
Mounir Nasraoui also said Yamal should be left alone to enjoy his life and feels he deserves more praise after taking the 10 shirt at Barcelona.
“He’s a young boy. People should understand that he’s a kid who just turned 18 and also has the right to enjoy life a little. We all understand that, he’s a professional athlete, whatever you want, but he’s also a child like any other,” he added.
“He’s his age, he has his friends, his parents are well looked after, thank God for everything.”
“And we should all be proud of having a national player here in Spain. Because I remember, I haven’t seen a number 10 here in Spain, in big teams. And we should be proud of having a national number 10 who represents the number 10 of his team and the greatness of his national team.”
Yamal also seemed unworried about the allegations when he spoke to the media after receiving the No. 10. He said: “In the end I work for Barça, I play for Barça. And when I’m away from Ciutat Esportiva I enjoy my life and that’s it.”
