It looks like there may be some substance behind the recent slew of Xavi Simons rumors, linking Chelsea quite strongly to the young playmaker at RB Leipzig, who’s in search of some Champions League football.
There are many big names interested from all around Europe, but Chelsea look to be stealing a beat on all of them. And according to Fabrizio Romano, we are making good progress in talks over personal terms. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is said to be “keen” on joining the World Champions.
Yessir!
That may be the easier part to get done of course, with Leipzig unlikely to let him go easily or cheaply, especially given all the potential interest. There’s a much higher chance of a long drawn out bidding war developing than of Chelsea getting this done quickly — especially at a reasonable price (€50-70m) rather than the nine-figure numbers some reports have thrown around. Talks with Leipzig have not started yet and are contingent on agreeing personal terms first.
