ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announced this morning that injury reports for league games are going to be mandatory for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball. This is partly in response to degenerate gamblers being degenerate gamblers, unsurprisingly.

Regardless of the impetus, the added transparency is overdue, especially for football. Football injury reports will be released two days prior to each conference game, with an update the next day as well as on game day.

The worst part of the week is that couple of hours before kickoff as you slowly learn which guys aren’t dressed out—I don’t think anybody’s going to miss learning about the surprise absence of a key starter that way. It’ll be nice to not have to go through that anymore.

ACC football coaches haven’t been bothering with public injury updates since 2017, so it’s been a minute.
