Barcelona have confirmed that first-team goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has successfully undergone back surgery.
The stopper has gone under the knife in France and is now expected to miss a significant chunk of the season.
Yet Barca have stopped short of confirming when he is expected to return in their official statement:
“First-team player Marc ter Stegen has successfully undergone further surgery for his lower back problems, performed by Dr. Amélie Léglise under the supervision of the club’s Medical
ADServices at Sports Clinic Bordeaux Merignac. He is unavailable for selection, and his recovery will determine when he can return.”
Ter Stegen had previously announced he expected to be sidelined for three months, while it’s thought Barca think it may be more like four months.
If that does prove to be the case then Barcelona will be able to use 80% of his salary to register new signings.
