After a day in which the Twins have indicated they are sellers - may not fire sale - but sellers before this trade deadline, the Twins (50-55) kick off a three-game set with the Red Sox (57-50) tonight at Target Field.
Boston’s in playoff push mode, coming off back-to-back wins over the Dodgers. They sit a half-game ahead of Seattle and Texas who are tied for the final wildcard spot at the moment.
The Twins, meanwhile, are looking to snap out of a 3-6 skid since the break after
dropping two straight to the Nationals.
Simeon Woods Richardson (5-4, 4.14) gets the start for the Twins. He’ll face rookie Richard Fitts (1-4. 4.86,) who’s coming off a rough outing in Philly.
Byron Buxton is likely out tonight with rib irritation, but the team won’t place him on the IL for now. Harrison Bader will step in after going 2-for-3 Sunday after three strikeouts on Saturday.
First pitch coming up from Minneapolis at 6:40 p.m..
