The Cardinals added four more runs in two of the next five innings to
take an 8-4 win over the Padres at Petco Park, Saturday.
Vasquez was able to get out of the fourth and returned to the mound in the top of the fifth inning. He allowed a leadoff single to Ivan Herrera and was replaced on the mound by Jeremiah Estrada. He issued a walk to Alec Burleson, but got Willson Contreras to strikeout for the first out of the inning. Estrada then struck out Lars Nootbaar, but with two on and two out, Masyn Winn hit a line drive to left that got down the line and allowed Herrera and Burleson to score to give St. Louis a 6-4 lead.
