on Season 7 of Contender Series—in one of the most thrilling bouts in the show’s history—Silva has secured two split-decision wins in his UFC tenure but has yet to fully unleash his potential.

He faces Vallejos on Saturday as a significant underdog (+330), but he’s ready to prove the oddsmakers and fans wrong, many of whom believe he’s going to get run over by his 23-year-old Argentine opponent

“It’s a good matchup for me. I think it really complements my game plan because I’m a natural counterpuncher,” Silva told UFC.com during UFC Vegas 108 media day. “I know it’s going to be an exciting fight because he’s going to pressure forward, like a Pacquiao-Juan Marquez fight.

“I need to go in there and get the respect that I’m owed,” Silva concluded. “I know we’re two prospects, and at the end of the day, they’re going to create a bigger prospect out of this, so I’m ready to take up the challenge... I’m ready to shut up everyone. Viva la raza!”

Silva is riding a four-fight win streak going into UFC Vegas 108.
