Quinnen Williams and John Simpson to miss 1-2 weeks in training camp with injuries

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced that a pair of starters will miss time in training camp due to injuries.

The Jets don’t open the regular season until September 7, which is obviously a long way off. Had these injuries occurred a month from now, it might be worth getting a tad nervous. Both Williams and Simpson have plenty of time to recover, though. The Jets will clearly be cautious.

The injuries will keep both players out of the preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers next week, but it isn’t clear Aaron Glenn is planning on playing his starters anyway. Even if he does, the first team will likely not be on the field for very long.

Of the two injuries, Simpson is the one that seems a bit more concerning since back injuries can linger. But given the 1-2 week timeframe, there isn’t much reason to think it’s a particularly serious ailment at this point.
