Bayern set to miss on Simons (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

Despite recent links to RB Leipzig Xavi Simons, Bayern Munich is expected to miss on the versatile attacker:

Bayern Munich could reportedly miss out on Xavi Simons with Chelsea looking to sign him from RB Leipzig. The Blues have already bolstered their attacking ranks by signing Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens but Enzo Maresca is still looking to bring in more players.

Chelsea are looking to offload the likes of Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, and Christopher Nkunku, among others, which will

free up space and wages for any potential new signing.

Bayern are focusing on signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and they will only look for options elsewhere if they fail to secure his services. The German champions made an approach to sign Simons this summer, but as it stands, he remains as a standby option.

Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons, and he would be the first option for Bayern if they fail to land their top targets. However, at this moment, it appears that he will move to the Premier League, with Chelsea making concrete efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

What makes this Simons story so interesting is Eberl’s reported “personal” interest in the attacker — which might not jibe with the rest of the decision-makers in the club.

Rashford inks Barca deal (Fabrizio Romano)

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford was linked to Bayern Munich, but has signed a deal with FC Barcelona per Fabrizio Romano:

Marcus Rashford has signed his contract as new Barcelona player. ✍

Reyna to Parma? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)

Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna looks like he is headed to Parma:

Personal terms between Parma and Gio #Reyna are agreed after very good talks in the last days.

Parma still have a good chance. The clubs have started negotiations. No agreement yet. #BVB

United could make play for Šeško (GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs)

Benjamin Šeško could be the next big name on Manchester United’s wish list:

Benjamin Šeško is back on Manchester United’s radar as a No.9 option, as revealed last week. Approach made 12 months ago before Šeško decided to stay at Leipzig.

Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins two other names discussed.

#MUFC still shortlisting several targets. Finding a new striker the next priority.

ESPN also had information on Manchester United’s interest in Šeško:

Manchester United are intensifying their efforts to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer, TEAMtalk has revealed. The 22-year-old is high on Ruben Amorim’s striker wishlist, despite having previously rejected a move to Old Trafford. Arsenal’s failure to secure a deal for Sesko could open the door for United, who have maintained regular contact since 2022. The Slovenia international has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig, where he is under contract until June 2029.

Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window could be heating up very soon.

The dominoes are falling all around Bayern Munich and each move should open up things for another. After a relatively quiet and composed approach to squad planning for the summer, it is time to start wheeling-and-dealing.

Let’s get into all of that on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Let’s discuss…
  • Bayern Munich has reportedly exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. What should fans think? Will Bayern return to the negotiating table? Is this all spiraling out of control?
  • It might just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid. If there are options to sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey, Bayern Munich should just unload them. It is time to stop thinking patience is a virtue with every player who underperforms.
  • A final note on Florian Wirtz as Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO gloats over Bayern’s failure to land the star player.

LFC fighting to keep Konaté (ESPN)

Liverpool wants to keep center-back Ibrahima Konaté, but Real Madrid is pushing hard to get the defender:

Liverpool are not going to give up attempting to renew Ibrahima Konaté’s contract, with L’Équipe reporting that they are concerned about interest from Real Madrid. Liverpool lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to the LaLiga giants this summer, receiving only a small fee because Real Madrid wanted to bring his registration forward for the start of the Club World Cup. The 26-year-old Konate has also moved into the final 12 months of his deal, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of England starting Jan. 1. However, while Liverpool have not yet been prepared to match the central defender’s demands, the Premier League champions are determined he won’t go the same route as Alexander-Arnold.

Juve to seal deal for Sancho? (ESPN)

Juventus is reportedly going to try and secure a deal for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho:

Juventus have reached an agreement to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, and the deal could be confirmed by Thursday. Tuttosport reports that the winger will sign a four-year contract worth €6 million plus bonuses. Juve have made an offer of £15 million, and they hope they can get the deal over the line by including a series of achievable add-ons to bump up the fee. As for exits, Fabrice Hawkins reports that United States star Timothy Weah has agreed to terms to complete a move to Marseille.

Nottingham Forest could try to play spoiler in the deal, per ESPN:

Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to The Sun. The England international, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, has been identified by Forest as a potential Anthony Elanga replacement. Sancho — who fell out with former boss Erik ten Hag and been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea — is surplus to requirements got head coach Ruben Amorim - and is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Lennart Karl will be a permanent member of the first team next season. He’s planned as an alternative on the right-wing (behind Olise). Bayern want to convince him to stay, as his contract expires next summer.
