Sky Germany journalists Kerry Hau and Torben Hoffmann recently discussed the transfer of of former Bayern Munich left-back Adam Aznou on the latest of edition of their “Mia san vier” Podcast.

Per the reporters (as published on Sky Germany’s website

), there were some issues with Aznou during the team’s stay in the United States for the Club World Cup:

FC Bayern have complied with Adam Aznou’s express wish to move to Everton FC. The 19-year-old full-back has been vehemently pushing for a departure in recent

weeks after playing just eight minutes at the Club World Cup.

Max Eberl made a telling statement in the record champions’ official press release. Although the club regrets his departure, the sporting director explained: “In general, the door is open to anyone who gives their all every day to achieve our common goals to establish themselves permanently with FC Bayern’s professional squad.”

The Moroccan international is said to have stopped doing this recently. “We heard from several sources that he let himself down in training during the Club World Cup and no longer showed the attitude that is needed at FC Bayern,” report Sky Sport reporters Kerry Hau and Torben Hoffmann in the latest episode of the FCB podcast Mia san vier.

Vincent Kompany and his coaching team are even said to have been disappointed with Aznou’s behavior. “If there’s one thing Kompany doesn’t like, it’s when players drag their feet in training — and perhaps think a little too highly of themselves.”

Hau, though, made it a point to state that Aznou could have been disappointed by the lack of an opportunity presented by Bayern Munich, even with the injuries to Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō:

However, Hau also has sympathy for Aznou. After all, promises were made to the player by those responsible that could not be kept. Former Bundesliga professional Hoffmann, on the other hand, clearly takes Aznou to task: “Talent alone is simply not enough. You have to be at 100 percent in every training session. Not even at 93, not even at 80. (...) These are mistakes that many boys make at that age.”

The Bayern reporters concluded: “In the end, all sides are probably relatively happy that this separation has taken place and the issue is over.” According to Hau, however, Eberl could have spared himself the parting words towards Aznou: “I don’t think that’s the smart thing to do. (...) He certainly wouldn’t have said that if the player had been loaned out.”

Aznou, of course, has made the move to Everton with a chance for a fresh start. Hopefully, the youngster can regroup and be prepared to take advantage of this chance to break into first team football.

The Bavarians finalized the much-anticipated signing of Luis Díaz from Liverpool FC to give the team a new look at left-wing? Will the 28-year-old get an early starting nod or will Vincent Kompany hold him out a bit longer? That will be just one of the key decisions made for the match against Olympique Lyon at the Allianz Arena.
