Highlights! Alexander Hernandez shocks Chase Hooper with buzzer-beating knockout punch | UFC 319

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Alexander Hernandez put a stop to Chase Hooper’s five-fight win streak earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 16, 2025) at UFC 319 LIVE on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV)  from inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois, shocking the young lightweight by way of TKO (punches) with just two seconds left in the first round.

Hooper’s length and forward movement proved key in the early going as he was able to land from range and take an early lead. Hernandez, who is tough as cookies at 155 pounds, hung in the pocket and waited

for his opportunity to pounce. It came with just a few seconds left in the first round.

After Hooper threw out a lead left jab, Hernandez launched a perfectly-timed right hand counter that caught Hooper flush on the chin and dropped him like a sack of potatoes. Hernandez quickly jumped on top to land some hammer fists as the referee stepped in for the stoppage. There were only two seconds left on the clock.

Check out the video highlights below:

Hernandez, 32, now has his first three-fight win streak since entering the promotion back in 2018. “The Great” seems to be putting it all together at the perfect time and considering he took little damage in Chi-Town there’s a good chance UFC matchmakers book him a quick turnaround fight next.
