they will be heavy favorites against Mazatlan.

The 1st half started with the surprise that Alvaro Angulo would be making his Pumas debut from the start after arriving earlier this week in Mexico. Pumas also had Rodrigo Parra at goalkeeper even after his mistake against Santos. After a great run from Pablo Bennevendo, he got off a cross that was deflected by Pachuca’s goalkeeper Carlos Moreno but it went right into the path of Alvaro Angulo,, who got off a left footed shot into the empty net to score and give Pumas the 1-0 lead. 6 minutes into his Liga Mx debut, Angulo had already scored to the delight of Pumas’ fans. Off a counter, Bennevendo got the ball but send his right footed shot wide. Incredibly, after getting the ball, once again Parra took too long and Alan Bautista slid, stole the ball from him and crawled with the ball into the net to score and tie the match at 1-1. It was incredible that a week later, Parra once again made the same terrible mistake and it costed Pumas another goal. Once the match restarted, there was a fight after Ruben Duarte fouled Alexei Dominguez that ended with the Pumas defender getting a Yellow card. A cross into the area was headed by Guillermo Martinez but Moreno made a good save and then got back to block the rebound before Angulo could get to it. After a great pass from Adalberto Carrasquilla, Jorge Ruvalcaba got into the area and lobbed a right footed shot past Moreno to score and give Pumas the 2-1 lead. A cross into the area was badly judged by Parra, and the ball would go over him and Jhonder Cadiz got a header into the empty net to score and tie the match at 2-2. After a good combination play, Ruvalcaba got off a shot but it was blocked. Off a free kick, the cross turned into a shot. A mistake by Pumas allowed Bautista to get into the area on a 1 vs 1 bu hist right footed shot went wide, wasting a great chance. The halftime whistle blew and unfortunately Parra’s mistakes had been key in the match being tied.

The 2nd half started with both teams coming out with the same 11 they started the game with. Pumas subbed out Rodrigo Lopez for Pedro Vite, making his Pumas debut. After Angulo got into the area, he fell into the area but was dropped by a defender although no foul was given. Pachuca subbed out Luis Quiñones for Gaston Togni. Off a corner kick, the ball was cleared but Gaston Togni got off a great left footed shot from outside the area that went past Parra and into the net to score and give Pachuca the 3-2 lead. Pumas subbed out Alvaro Angulo and Santiago Trigos for Pablo Monroy and Piero Quispe. Pachuca subbed out Alexei Dominguez and Alan Bautista for Victor Guzman and Javier Lopez. Bad communication almost led to a mistake after Moreno missed the ball but it was cleared. Pumas subbed out Pablo Bennevendo for Santiago Lopez. Pachuca subbed out Jhonder Cadiz and Pedro Pedraza for Ilian Hernandez and Brian Garcia. From outside the area, Ruvalcaba got off a right footed shot that went well wide. After getting a ball in the area, Martinez got off a left footed shot from close range but Moreno made a great save. After getting the ball in the area, Ruvalcaba got off a right footed shot that went wide. Off a corner kick, Martinez got a header that went wide. It was the last chance and Pachuca ended getting their second victory in the Apertura 2025.

Pumas’ terrible start to the Apertura continues with another loss and brought by the same mistakes that brought the first. 17 year old Rodrigo Parra had another nightmare of a match. After Pumas had a good start to the match and took the lead, a terrible mistakes, very similar to the one he had against Santos the week before, let to the tie. Then after Pumas took the lead again, another bad mistake from him allowed for the tie. Although he wasn’t at fault for the third goal, he was key to the result because of the two gifted goals. While him having the start might have been expected to keep his confidence after the first match, with another loss, his confidence can no longer be a priority. He has to stop starting matches because he’s not ready to play in Liga MX yet. Pumas now needs a result in their visit to Queretaro before the Liga MX stoppage for the Leagues Cup, or they will remain in last place. On the other hand, Pachuca has been surprising by winning both of their matches and tying in first place. Pachuca came in after a disappointing FIFA Club World Cup in which they lost all three matches. New Coach Jaime Lozano had a lot of pressure after that failure but after a convincing 3-0 win over Monterrey at home, they now had an away visit win against Pumas, only the 2nd win in 13 away matches against the team he made his name on as a player. Pachuca will be heavy favorites to remain on top before the Leagues Cup praise as they host Mazatlan, were they will be heavy favorites.
