Preseason training camp officially opens this week for Arizona, with the calendar turning to August in a few days and the 2025 season just around the corner.
But Watch List SZN is already in full swing, with the Wildcats’ leader getting included on a prestigious preseason list.
Quarterback Noah Fifita has been named to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, given annually to college football’s most outstanding player. It’s the second year in a row making the preseason list for Fifita.

Fifita—who turned 22 on Monday—enters his redshirt junior season as the UA starter for the second year in a row. He’s made 21 consecutive starts at QB, appearing in 27 games and throwing for 5,995 yards and 44 touchdowns.
He is the second UA player to make a preseason watch list, following linebacker Taye Brown who was named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list in May.
The UA is set to hold its first preseason practice on Wednesday ahead of the season opener Aug. 30 against Hawaii.
