Álvaro Rodríguez is set for a fresh start with Elche following a transfer agreement between Real Madrid and the newly promoted LaLiga side. The move will see Los Blancos retain 50% of the Uruguayan striker’s rights, keeping a close eye on his development in Spain’s top flight.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Getafe under José Bordalás, where he made 26 appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. While those stats fell short of expectations, Rodríguez still attracted interest

from several LaLiga clubs. Ultimately, it was Elche — now under the guidance of Eder Sarabia — who pushed hardest to bring him in.

Elche view Rodríguez as a key reinforcement as they look to cement their place in LaLiga after promotion. His physical presence, strong hold-up play, and finishing ability align with Sarabia’s tactical vision — one that helped the team thrive in the Segunda División.

Rodríguez, a product of Real Madrid’s academy, will be expected to shoulder significant responsibility in attack for a club whose primary goal this season will be survival. If all goes to plan, his debut could come in a friendly against his former club Getafe on July 30 in La Torre (Murcia).

With Madrid retaining half of his rights, the door remains open for a future return to the Bernabéu — especially if he can fulfill the potential that once made him one of La Fábrica’s most promising forwards.
