The Kentucky Wildcats have extended a scholarship offer to Marcus Spears Jr., a class of 2027 forward, his father told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+.
The 6-foot-7 standout from Dynamic Prep in Plano, Texas, becomes the fourth rising junior to receive an offer from Mark Pope’s staff, joining C.J. Rosser, Obinna Ekezie Jr., and Baba Oladotun.
According to Polacheck, Spears has been on Kentucky’s radar since the contact period opened on June 15. During Peach Jam, assistant coach Alvin Brooks III has maintained
consistent communication, along with another UK assistant. That relationship and Kentucky’s new up-tempo system under Pope have made a strong early impression on Spears.
Spears, the son of former LSU and NFL standout Marcus Spears, is one of the more intriguing wings in the 2027 class. At 6-foot-7 with perimeter versatility and developing strength, he’s drawing interest from major programs across the country. In addition to Kentucky, Spears also holds offers from Houston, Tennessee, Indiana, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, and others.
While it’s still early in his recruitment, Kentucky’s staff is wasting no time building relationships with the next wave of elite talent. Spears’ combination of size, skill, and basketball IQ fits the mold of what Pope has prioritized going into his second season.
Keep an eye on this recruitment as it continues to gain momentum.
