Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
All Summer League games are meaningless, except as training exercises for the players and coaches, and also as an opportunity for new referees to get a shot at some game action before the real games start. But in the universe of meaningless games, the most
meaningless of all games has to the the consolation games that teams that miss the Summer League playoffs get assigned after they are eliminated. It’s a chance for players to get one more shot to impress, while the draft picks and players with guaranteed spots are almost sure to miss this mostly pointless exercise.
There are several players that haven’t had much chance to play this summer in Las Vegas, and it might be the time for Coach Noyes to unleash Chibuzo Agbo, Cam Carter, Jacksen Moni, Jackson Farrakhan and Kino Lilly Jr. Or maybe David Jones-Garcia plays the whole game and scores 40. There’s no way to predict what’s gong to happen.
It’s your last chance to see someone play basketball in a Spurs uniform until fall, but it’s not likely to be premium entertainment content. This will only be available on ESPN + and ESPN 3, unless FanDuel decides to replace their scheduled softball broadcast with the Spurs game.
Let’s face it, you have to be a real hardcore fan to watch this thing. A real Spurs Sicko. See you there.
Game Prediction:
The half dozen fans in the stands in the first half leave the stadium at halftime to go play slots at the casino.
