Napoli and Girona have agreed to an €18 million deal for left back Miguel Gutierrez, according to Corriere dello Sport. Real Madrid will retain 50% of any future sale. The move is not finalized, as Gutierrez has yet to approve the transfer despite advanced negotiations.
Gutierrez is currently recovering from ankle surgery and is reportedly open to a new challenge. The 23-year-old has been a long-term target for Napoli and would strengthen the left flank following earlier interest from AC Milan and Atletico
Madrid. If the move is completed, Gutierrez would become the seventh Real Madrid academy product sold this summer.
Real Madrid have already earned nearly €25 million from academy sales with Jacobo Ramon (Como), Víctor Munoz (Osasuna), Rafael Obrador (Benfica), Chema Andres (Stuttgart), Youssef Enriquez (Alaves), and Alvaro Rodriguez all leaving with sell-on and buy-back clauses.
Gutierrez’s departure would push total Castilla-related transfer revenue above €30 million this summer. The Fabrica sales plus the earnings from the Club World Cup (~€70 million), would bring Madrid’s total income this summer to €100 million. All the more impressive given the club have not sold any first team players (Luka Modric, Jesus Vallejo, and Lucas Vazquez all left on free transfers following their contract expiration).
