WHAT'S THE STORY?

Do you remember your first reaction when Duke announced that they had gained a commitment from Rice transfer Ifeanyi Ufochukwu?

Our reaction was: who?

We had no idea what he was about, but in their summer preview, the Duke Chronicle thinks that he’s a more talented player than we realize.

There’s a difference between talented and effective, of course. Not too long ago, we watched his teammates physically shove former Blue Devil Sean Stewart into position on defense when he clearly didn’t know what he was

supposed to do.

We don’t know if the Chronicle is right about Ufochukwu, but he doesn’t have to be great. He just has to be competent and to be able to defend and rebound effectively when Patrick Ngongba and Maliq Brown can’t go.

If it turns out that he’s a raw athlete who could conceivably be a late bloomer, so much the better. Right now, he doesn’t have to do very much.

Also, we missed the preview of Jack Scott, so here that is.
