Former UFC middleweights Vitor Belfort (26-14, 1 NC) and Wanderlei Silva (35-14-1, 1 NC) will rematch inside a boxing ring atop the upcoming Spaten Fight Night 2 event, scheduled for Sat., Sept. 27, 2025 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
MMA Fighting brought word of the matchup on Tuesday.
Belfort defeated Silva under MMA rules as part of the UFC 17.5 “Ultimate Brazil” card back in late 1998, before a lot of current UFC fans were even born. “The Phenom” is one year younger than “The Axe Murderer” at 48.
Neither
fighter has competed in cage fighting since their respective losses in 2018.
Belfort stepped into the ring against the mummified remains of Evander Holyfield in late 2021 and was expected to follow-up that drubbing with a showdown against Hasim Rahman Jr.; however, the Brazilian was pulled from the bout during fight week.
As for Silva, who continues to deal with the effects of head trauma, he was previously negotiating with the “Fight Music” promotion a few years back, but “The Axe Murderer” has yet to make his in-ring debut, likely because of this.
Expect more Spaten Fight Night 2 matchups in the coming weeks.
